Heather Olker is a Northbrook-based interdisciplinary artist and educator driven by feminist, psychological and political concerns. Her current practice encompasses a variety of mediums: photography, video, drawing, collage, installation and performance. The artist exhibited at SCOPE Art Show, Miami, FL, Woman Made Gallery, Chicago, IL, Culture Lab LIC, Queens, NY, New Apostle Gallery, Brooklyn, NY, and Frank Juarez Gallery, Milwaukee, WI, and has been published in Kolaj Magazine and The Journal for New and New Media Photography: In the In-Between.
The artist is a Master of Fine Arts graduate from the Photography, Video and Related Media program at the School of Visual Arts, New York, NY, where she was awarded the Alice Beck-Odette scholarship and a full-time assistantship grant. She is an adjunct faculty member at Chicago State University, IL, Waubonsee Community College, IL, and Union College, NJ, where she teaches Advanced Digital Photography II, the History of Photography, Visual Literacy, and the History of Ancient-Medieval Art to diverse audiences.
